I discovered him a few years ago when I saw The Flying Shepherd / Ciobanul zburător. He was its cinematographer. It was a documentary short film full of atmosphere and poetry about an interesting symbiosis between the old and the new, between tradition and modernity. Back then I thought that the director CătălinMușat (whom I lost trace of, later on) was guilty for all that. Instead, Marius Iacob, who also became a film director, keeps following the same track with two feature-length documentaries: 24 Buckets, 7 Mice, 18 Years / 24găleți, 7 șoareci, 18 ani and I Am Hercules / Eu sunt Hercule. He says he is more interesting in being a director of photography. It would be a great pity not to continue his work and for such a talented documentarian to be lost.
