The Script Contest, the first shorts' script competition in Romania offering as prize the production of the winning script, has reached its second edition.
The participants are invited to enter their scripts from 15 November 2017 to 10 January 2018 at the e-mail thescriptcontestro@gmail.com. This second edition proposes the theme “Portraits of a disappearing world”.
The Script Contest is a shorts' script competition, intending to discover talented creative people whose stories have not yet been discovered. The project targets the development of the Romanian scriptwriters' community, thus offering to possibility to enter the contest to every Romanian resident, aged over 18 and passionate about film and/or scriptwriting.
The winners of the first edition were Vlad Ghinea (with the script
Set) and Iulia D. Popa (
Odihnească-se în pace / Rest In Peace). Each prize consisted in a €500 check, plus the production of the script into a short. Iulia also benefitted of a script
workshop, offered by CTRL+N, in order to improve her script which was subsequently produced.
Vlad Ghinea stated about his participation to the first TSC contest edition: “For me, The Script Contest was the wheel that set into motion the gear which led to the production of this film. Thus, TSC became a real and tangible solution to the much-too-desired CNC funds. I was effectively given the chance to take the script out of the drawer, to send it to some people who actually read it and afterwards to turn it into a film. The Script Contest offers more or less to young scriptwriters/directors the possibility to produce a film, asking only for a good script in return.”
The second edition also comes with regulation changes, that is one theme, three film genres and only one winner. Furthermore, this year each participant may enter only one script in the competition. The prize remains unchanged, thus the second edition will also offer EUR 500 to the winner and the respective script is to be produced with the help of the production house Castalia Pictures și FILM+ , over one year since the end of the contest.
The Association for the Development of Romanian film is a non-profit organisation, constantly developing projects and setting up events both for the industry and for the film loving audience, offering at the same time information about the Romanian cinema on its official site.
