„Francophonie” opens BIEFF 2016

Francophonie, a captivating story about the Louvre Museum directed by Aleksandr Sokurov, is to open the 6th Edition of Bucharest International Experimental Film Festival on Monday, March 14th, from 8:00 pm, at CinemaPro.
For its international competition, the Urban Rituals program selected four features that juggle with the particularities of our diverse social and cultural practices: Perfection Is Forever (directed by Mara Trifu) is an observational allegory of the perpetual search for beauty, Supporting Film (directed by Douwe Dijkstra) is an exploration of the viewer/cinema relationship, and in Buffalo Juggalos (directed by Scott Cummings) a group of Juggalo members (devoted fans of the rapcore band Insane Clown Posse), hidden behind their heavy ritual make-up, are caught in still-life-type of images. The Diver, directed by Esteban Arrangoiz, is a captivating metaphysical pilgrimage in the service of the community.
Furthermore, BIEFF 2016, in partnership with MUBI, puts forward for the Romanian audience a selection of features to be made available on its online platform for a month, starting on March 7th. Among the directors of such features, mention should be made of: Chris Marker, Agnes Varda, Jonas Mekas, Pere Portabella, Hans Richter and Peter Tscherkassky.
