Event dedicated to actor Jorj Voicu at Odeon Theatre


     On Sunday, March 27th, from 11.00 am, at the Studio Hall of Odeon Theatre, a special event will be held dedicated to actor Jorj Voicu - 25 years after his passing on.
     On this occasion, the bust made by sculptor Dragoș Cătălin Munteanu will be unveiled, and the feature Un portret (A Portrait) is to be screened, made by the Production Outfit of the Romanian Television Station. The event will be hosted by Dorina Lazăr, by the manager of Odeon Theatre, and by director Sanda Manu.
     Jorj Voicu was born on July 12th, 1938, la Cluj. He graduated the Bucharest Theatre and Cinema Institute in 1961, class of Professor Ion Finteşteanu, and then he studied pantomime in Paris with Jacques Leqoc. He started his acting career at the Bucharest Regional Theatre, and from 1962 he performed at the Turda State Theatre, then at „Barbu Delavrancea” Theatre of Bucharest. During 1968-1989, we performed at Bucharest Giuleşti Theatre (currently Odeon Theatre).
     He made his debut on the big screen in 1966, in the feature Zodia Fecioarei (Virgo Sign), than he played Mefisto in Faust XX (1966). He also starred in productions such as: Un film cu o fată fermecătoare (A Movie with a Charming Girl) (1967), De trei ori Bucureşti (Three Times Bucharest) (1967), B.D. în alertă (B.D. In Alert) (1971), Păcală (1973), Comedie fantastică (A Fantasy Comedy) (1975), Ediţie specială (Special Edition) (1980), De ce trag clopotele, Mitică? (Why Do the Bells Toll, Mitică?) (1981), Dueliștii (The Duelists) (1983) and Rămășagul (The Bet) (1984).
