NexT 2016 Anniversary Edition – films, debates and special events

     NexT Film Festival, the most important shorts' festival in Romania, will be officially opened tomorrow, 7 April, at 19.30, at the Farmers' Club.

     This tenth anniversary edition will last until April 11th, and will make available to Bucharest viewers 140 recent shorts, inventive and innovative, in no less than 16 Sections, with dozens of special guests, seminars and parties of cosmic proportions. Out in Space, Oscars Night, Avant-garde, NexT is Feminist, LGBT and Hanky Panky are only a few of this Edition's programs which nobody should miss.
At the opening gala, Ada Solomon, initiator of NexT Cultural Society, and Yvonne Irimescu, coordinator of the festival, are to present the most remarkable moments of this edition. The opening will be followed by screenings in the anniversary section „10 years of NexT”.
     Moreover, tomorrow is the first day of the sound seminar „Plimbări sonore” (Acoustic Walks), delivered by journalist and musician Maria Balabaș. During the same night, at Cinema Elvire Popesco, from 19.30, the first screening within the program „Video Essays” will take place, attended by Kevin B. Lee, one of the most renowned video essay authors and member of the NexT 2016 International Competition Jury.
     On the occasion of the NexT anniversary edition, the Farmers' Club will host the „10 Times x NexT” Exhibition, which gathers together the posters made by visual artist and animation filmmaker Matei Branea, over each of the festival's ten editions. Alexandru Ciubotariu, the Exhibition Curator, selected, apart from the posters, also several sketches, prepping designs and original drawings.
