The 9th edition of the Piatra Film Festival is about to start

    The Piatra Film Festival 2016 (25-28 August, Piatra-Neamț) brings not only 48 short films (30 of them are in competition), but also a series of special events, such as the preview of Dogs (directed by Bogdan Mirică), a live concert of the folk masters Nicu Alifantis și Ducu Bertzi and the chance to spend an entire day full of activities by the Bâtca Doamnei lake.
 

     The festival will take place at the same well-known locations: Curtea Domnească, Cinema Dacia and the Teaz Tea House. The last day of the festival will happen by the BâtcaDoamnei lake, as part of the event Long Day, Shorts Night – where the participants will be able to enjoy kayak trips and the screening of the best short films that were released this past year and also an unusual event, the water launch of the poems from the artist  Ion Barbu`s project called “Bottles for mind, heart and literature”. At the end of the day, the DJs Jurjak, Platonic Scale and Beavis will get the party started.
     For this year`s edition, the Piatra Film Festival selected 48 films – 30 in the competition and 18 outside the competition, out of which 3 of them are in the Animation category, 8 in the Documentary category, 5 in the Experimental category,

 10 in the Fiction category and 4 in the Music Videos category. These are a group of projects that came from the students from Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca andChișinău or from young directors who come from other backgrounds than the ones that are formed in school.” Claudia Cojocaru, one of the members of the selection team.
      As for the OFFCOMP category, it has two sections: OFFCOMP from PIATRA, where local productions will be screened andOFFCOMP MIX, which includes “some of the most appreciated Romanian short films (mostly student films) which had a more intense festivals activity” Claudia Cojocaru added.
      The more difficult the mission of the jury is, the more successful the festival will be; this 9th edition invited Anamaria Antoci (film producer),Cristi Mărculescu (film critic), Alexandra Safriuc (member of the selection team - Shorts Up) și Roxana Stroe (film director) to be the members of the jury.

The jury of this year`s edition is the youngest so far.
