The short film
The Christmas Gift/Cadoul de Crăciun, directed by
Bogdan Mureșanu, received the third prize this autumn. On Saturday, November 10, during the Awards Gala of the Cottbus International Film Festival,
The Christmas Gift received the Trophy of the short film competition. The jury of the prestigious festival considered that the short film “allows the viewer to go through a very
good dramatic construction, with touching humour and also allows him to become the witness of a story with effective rhythm, in which the innocent wish of a child immerses a simple family in a huge conflict, marked by the atmosphere of terror in a totalitarian system.
It is the third award that Bogdan Mureșanu receives for this film, after receiving the Big Prize of the Izmir Festival and
the jury award of the Montpellier Film Festival, in the section dedicated to the short films.
The Christmas Gift was selected in other international festivals as well. The next destination is the Bilbao Film Festival.
At the 2018 edition of the Transilvania International Film Festival (TIFF 2018), the film received the Romanian Days: Best Short Award.
The Christmas Gift was produced by the film company KINOTOPIA in 2018. The film features
Adrian Văncică,
Ioana Flora and the boy Luca Toma. The action of the film takes place on December 20, 1989, when a letter to Santa Claus written by the little boy Marius turns the evening of his parents into a nightmare.
