“Aftertaste” presented at the Shorts Festival dotdotdot in Vienna

On Monday, 18 July, from 19.00, at the headquarters of the Romanian Cultural Institute of Vienna, the performance Aftertaste will be held, presented by Tangaj Dance Collective within the International Shorts Festival dotdotdot (5 July – 26 August) in Vienna.
It is an unconventional performance with the sound infinitely altered and processed live, the audience having the freedom to choose the perspective from which they look at the show. Aftertaste starts from the confessions of synesthesic persons, with different forms of autism, and transgender children. In a universe of feelings brought to extremes and of simple questions that have no answers, Diana Spiridon and Simona Dabija transform information with their body giving birth to an (in)credible reality, which takes place on other coordinates. Aftertaste is an installation-show where the body becomes undone, de-layered and de-articulated, made up of millions of particles on continuous move, leaving the impression of eternal return.
“In Aftertaste, we break down a second of our life in nanoseconds, we leave our thoughts suspended in space and time, free to travel in random directions at various speeds. It may be hallucinating, intimate, fluctuating, giving one time to analyse and generate questions. It is a performance where we transform constantly, and where we like to find each other in each of our viewers,” Simona Deaconescu said.
For the making of this performance, choreographer Simona Deaconescu worked together with Viennese playwright Kroot Juurak and with sound designer Denis Bolborea, and the visual composition was signed by Carmen Tofeni. The show is part of the cultural project “Room 0003_Running Lines”, co-financed by the National Cultural Fund Administration and financed within the Cultural Programme “You are Bucharest”, through ARCUB and the Bucharest Municipality Town Hall.
Simona Deaconescu is a special guest of the International Shorts Festival dotdotdot. She will deliver the workshop ONE[R] DANCE FILM LAB, on 19-20 July, between 16.00-20.00, and will attend, together with Anamaria Antoci, a Q&A session after the screening of her film, Silent Places, on 22 July, from 21.30.
