The most important cinema event dedicated to dance productions, reaching its 3rd Edition, Bucharest International Dance Film Festival, will unfold between 7-10 September 2017.
BIDFF 2017 will be held at “Elvira Popesco”, at the National Dance Centre of Bucharest, and at the National Museum of Contemporary Art. Moreover, in keeping with tradition, the organisers are setting up a series of events in unconventional spaces of the capital city, such as URBANINC or Gallery.
The programme of the festival will also include the latest short and feature film productions, conferences and masterclasses.
This year's edition theme,
The Age of the Strange, proposes a return to the natural state, searching for “techno-surreal” methods of exposure, embracing contradiction and fragility. The more and more troubling context of a world in crises puts the authenticity of daily existence under a question mark, contradictions and fragility becoming vectors of our daily trajectory.
The Festival is looking for innovative films, with messages sometimes transparent, sometimes coded, provoking the audience to an information exchange on social and political life, on strong emotions, unusual places, by joining corporeal and cinematic languages.
Encouraging artistic experiment and courageous initiatives, the organisers are waiting for submissions of international productions until 9 July 2017, while the submissions to the „Romanian Competition” may be sent until 1 august 2017.
Bucharest International Dance Film Festival is organised by Tangaj Dance Association, a cultural project co-funded by AFCN – Administration of the National Cultural Fund, with the support of the National Filmmaking Centre.
