TIFF 2016 Caravan ready to start


     TIFF Films Caravan hits the road again this summer, screening some of the most appreciated productions of the last year in about 15 towns.
     A project with tradition, initiated to make up for the lack of theatre halls, the Caravan carries on successfully for the 7th year, with over 33,000 viewers attending its screenings in 2015. From July to September, on an open-air giant inflatable screen, the viewers will have the opportunity to enjoy stories granted awards at festivals, and box-office hits in Romania, Hungary, France, Germany, Norway, Spain, Great Britain, USA, Canada or Brazil.
     The Romanian films to be screened at the TIFF Caravan are the latest domestic productions: Ilegitim/Illegitimate (directed by Adrian Sitaru), Orizont(directed by Marian Crișan), Lumea e a mea/The World is Mine (directed by Nicolae Constantin Tănase), Dincolo de calea ferată/By the Rails (directed by Cătălin Mitulescu), București Nonstop/Bucharest Non-Stop (directed by Dan Chișu), Cinema, mon amour (directed by Alexandru Belc). One of the most awaited-for features of this fall, Câini/Dogs (directed by Bogdan Mirică), winner of the Transilvania Trophy at TIFF and of the FIPRESCI Award at Cannes, will be screened in Alexandria.
     Admission to screenings will be free of charge.
     The first town on the Caravan's map is Carei - between 19 and 21 July, in Dendrologic Park, three films of the Transilvania International Film Festival (TIFF) will be screened. The Caravan's route also includes towns such as: Baia Mare (22-26 July), Satu Mare (29-31 July), Arad (1-3 August), Timişoara (4-9 August), Alexandria (11-13 August), Oradea (12-14 August), Sfântu Gheorghe (16-18 August), Făgăraș (19-21 August), Iași (30 August-1 September), Galaţi (31 August-1 September), Constanța (2-4 September), Târgovişte (8-11 September), Braşov, Piatra Neamţ, Fălticeni or Suceava.
     TIFF Caravan programme includes films that won awards at important festivals, such as: Son of Saul (directed by László Nemes), Carol (directed by Todd Haynes), Room (directed by Lenny Abrahamson), Trois souvenirs de ma jeunesse/My Golden Days (Arnaud Desplechin), The Wave (directed by Roar Uthaug), Nelly's Adventures (directed by Dominik Wessely), Remainder (directed by Omer Fast), The Violin Teacher (directed by Sérgio Machado), Pelé: Birth of a Legend (directed by Jeff & Michael Zimbalist), Rams (directed by Grímur Hákonarson), Wild Tales (directed by Damián Szifron) or La isla minima (directed by Alberto Rodríguez).
