  • The name Vizante was a nickname turned into stage name. „It came up when I was in the 9th grade, after a monologue by Vizante outlaw I recited in school – it was satirical comedy. The irony was on the petty ways of the communist society – the profiteers, and the „Vizante”case was among the ones mocked. The role of Vizante outlaw, who was in fact a small market speculator of the '80s, fit me like I glove. Because nobody knew my name at the time, it stuck with me and everybody started calling me „Vizante”. Even now there are a lot of people who don't know my real name. „Vizante”sounds strange and unusual, it gets stuck on your retina, on your mind, and it's easier to memorise. So it became my stage name. Maestro Radu Beligan encouraged me to use it as stage name. I had been already hired as an actor by the National Theatre, I was about to play in my first professional performance and Maestro Beligan saw the poster and asked me: „You don't play in this?". „I do." „Where, I don't see you. What are you, an extra?" „No, maestro, I am there, my name is up there at the top." „What name? Isn't your name Vizante?" „No, this is my nickname." „What is your name, then?" „Marius Florea." „Hmm, that's not an actor's name. Go and change it on the poster quickly, add Vizante!" So, from then on, from the spring of 1998, my poster name has been „Marius Florea-Vizante". Anyway, even when I was in high school, when there were no mobile phones, I had friends and other people who called me at home going like: „Hello! Mrs. Vizante?" and my mom, naturally, answered: „No". They went: „Sorry!" and hanged up. Who knows how many deals I lost because my mom answered she wasn't Mrs. Vizante!” (adevarul.ro)
