Postcards from SRR at One World Romania

In the first half of November the One World Romania Association prepared different programs for the viewers interested in documentaries from Bucharest , but also from other parts of the country. Between November 1 to 4, 2018, there is a Focus KineDok at the “From the Balkans” Festival. Then between November 5 and 11, 2018, OWR presents a new selection of documentaries of the “Alexandru Sahia” Studio and makes the final preparations for the fifth edition of the festival luna.doc, organized by One World Romania at School.
From November 5 to 11, 2018, One World Romania prepared a week full of  SAHIA VINTAGE screenings and special events. This autumn some documentaries made between 1950 and 1989 by the “Alexandru Sahia” Studio will be screened in 5 districts, six high schools and one faculty in Bucharest. The Sahia week will close with a collection of post cards, photographs and stories from the holidays in the Socialist Romania – on November 10 and 11, 2018, at the Funky Citizens Cage.
Among the selected films, Sahia Vintage suggests a discussion about work, daily life and holidays during Communism, about how they remained recorded on documentary films and about how nowadays – almost three decades after the Communist regime was defeated – our memories meet, confirm or contradict these films.
The five districts from Bucharest where the short films can be seen this year, from November 5 to 9, are: Cotroceni, Floreasca, Tineretului, Bucureștii Noi și Drumul Taberei, The same week, the OWR selection reaches 6 high schools in Bucharest: the “Dante Aligheri” Theoretical High school , the “Sfântul Sava” National College, the “Nicolae Tonitza” Arts High school, the “Ion Creangă” National College, the “Virgil Madgearu” Economical College, the “Matei Basarab” National College. The Faculty of Sociology and Social Assistance (of the Bucharest University) will host a screening on Tuesday, November 6, 2018, from 16:00, in the Council Hall.
On Saturday, November 10 and on Sunday, November 11, from 11:00 to 19:00 an event will take place at the Funky Citizens Cage, where the OWR team will gather from the audience postcards, photographs and holiday stories from the period of the Socialist Romania. With your permission, they will scan the images and record the stories, for a future online exhibition about the holidays during the Socialist years. You will keep the originals, the scanned photos and stories will remain with the OWR team in order to make them known to the viewers in the future, who will be interested in the habits of spending the free time from 1950 to 1980.
