The Civil Society Pitch (edition 4) is about to start

Civil Society Pitch, the series of workshops started by the One World Romania Association in order to create a bridge to connect filmmakers interested in social causes in the East-European region and activists that are already involved in these causes, announced the dates for the first session of its 4th edition: June 26 – July 5.
17 filmmakers from the four partner countries of the programme – Romania, Republic of Moldova, Bulgaria and Hungary – will meet the representatives of 8 NGOs from the same countries. Under the guidance of OWR and of the tutors, they will make teams with the purpose of developing together documentary films around some topics of common interest. During the first session, the NGOs will start with an online pitching workshop (June 26) where they will learn to present ideas and topics that may represent the start of some documentary films. The pitch training will be held by Mona Nicoară – the associate producer of the documentary Children Underground, awarded at Sundance and nominated for the Oscars and director of some productions, such as Our School / Școala noastră și The Distance Between Me and Me / Distanța dintre mine și mine
On July 4 and 5 the pitching session itself will take place and also the matchmaking sessions, in which the filmmakers and the activists will get to know each other and they will be able to discover areas of common interest that have potential to become documentaries. The workshop will take place in the cool yard of the French Institute in Bucharest and the meetings will be coordinated by  Monica Lăzurean-Gorgan  – a filmmaker who made and produced or co-produced many fiction and documentary feature films awarded in Berlin, Sundance, Locarno, etc (Acasă, My Home, Chuck Norris vs Comunism, Timebox, etc.) and Alexandru Solomon – the president of the One World Romania Association and one of the most active and awarded Romanian documentary filmmaker who directed and produced many documentary films Great Communist Robbery / Marele jaf comunistCold Waves / Război pe calea undelor, Kapitalism – Our Improved Formula / Kapitalism – Rețeta noastră secretă și Tarzan's Testicles / Ouăle lui Tarzan. Because of the travelling restrictions, unfortunately the foreign tutors who were scheduled – Andy Glynne (British writer, director and producer) and Guillaume Massart (documentary film director and producer) – won`t be able to attend the event. This first session will end with the making of the teams of filmmakers and activists who, under the guidance of Monica Lăzurean-Gorgan and of Alexandru Solomon, will take the first steps towards starting the pitched projects.
The Civil Society Pitch will continue during the year with more stages meant to support the projects: thedocumenting and development stage (July-October, 2020), a follow-up workshop (november 2020), development and production (December 2020 – February 2021), a public pitching session and the development award (March-April 2021).
The final pitching session will have minimum 4 teams which moved forward in making their projects. The development award (worth of 4,000 Euro) will be offered to the filmmakers and it will be used to finalize the documentary film project developed together with the partner NGO.  51 filmmakers and 36 NGOs participated at the previous three editions and the three Civil Society Pitch went to the following teams: the film director Iulia Stoian, FILIA Center and Funky Citizens for The Invisibles / Invizibilii (2016), the film director Eliza Zdru and the Teach for Romania Association for Learning Teaching (2017), the film director Laurențiu Garofeanu and the Center for Juridical Resources for Lost and Found (2019).
