From idea to innovation. Film O’Clock International Festival

On Tuesday, June 23, 2020, during an event organized by Next Wave DFFB (Berlin Film Academy) and Cannes Next in Marché du Film, the Film O`Clock International Festival, a new film festival which puts forth a global social and cultural
movement, by connecting audiences in the same time zone. The initiator of this festival is Mirona Radu (Creatrix Fama), who has acquired 10 years of experience in film production and film distribution, as well as in international film festivals.
After months of intense work and a series of meetings with international experts (Madeleine Probst (Watershed, Europa Cinemas), Sten-Kristian Saluveer (Storytek,
Cannes Next), Jon Barrenechea (MUBI), Matthijs Wouter Knol (European Film Market), Paula Astorga (Cineteca National) and many other professionals, the project is about to come to life.
The concept of the Film O`Clock International Festival has two key-pillars – the film as a vehicle to communicate ideas and emotions and the quality time spent together.
By screening simultaneously the same films in different cities and countries, followed by Q&As with the creative teams and the film critics broadcasted live in the other
cinemas that are part of the project. The viewers have the chance of living the festival experience even if they are at thousands of kilometres away the ones from the
others…and they also have the chance of learning something new, of being more opened and of being able to be empathetic by means of art.
The pilot edition of the festival will take place in December 2020 and it will take place simultaneously in five countries from the meridian of 25° latitude east: Lithuania,
Romania, Greece, Egypt and South Africa. The program will include only films produced in these countries and they will be selected by a committee of curators
from each participant country. The emphasis will be on debut films of some authors who have a strong artistic vision as well as on the new forms of cinematic story-
telling which is typical for each country.
