Valentin Uritescu is to receive The Lifetime Achievement Award at the XIth edition of the National GOPO Awards, set to take place on March 21st, 2017, at the National Theatre in Bucharest.
The actor had an intense activity in theatre on the Bulandra stage: “A Moon for the Misbegotten” by Eugene O’Neill, “The Cabal of the Hypocrites” by Michail Bulgakov, “The Third Impalement” by Marin Sorescu, “A Lost Morning” by Gabriela Adamesteanu, ‘Tartuffe” by Moliere, but also in the plays staged at the National Theatre in Bucharest: “Avram Iancu” by Lucian Blaga, “The Witches of Salem” by Arthur Miller , “The Cherry Orchard” by A P Tchekov, “The Name of the Rose” by Umberto Eco, “Krecinski’s Wedding”, “Take, Ianke and Cadir”, “Crime for Land” or “ The Passions of Saint Tommaso d’Aquino”. Important for his career are also the parts he played in “Socrates’s Last Night” by Dumitru Solomon, staged for Theatrum Mundi and also “Casting for a Clown” by Matei Visniec/Levant Theatre.

2011 marks his debut in the literary world with his autobiography “That’s What I Am, a Fool” and 2 years later he goes on with “Take Care of Your Good Self”, a book of memories dedicated to his father. Both books are edited by Humanitas. Last year he launched the volume “Haunted by Others’ Lives”, memories published with the Ars Docendi Publishing House.
