TIFF 2017: Concert by Loredana, Film Food and music nights at TIFF House

The programme of Transilvania International Film Festival (2 – 11 June 2017) includes, each year, diverse artistic experiences, concerts and parties.
Film Food sections brings three of the latest films about the cuisine art, to be accompanied by dinners spiced by the most popular Romanian chefs: Cătălin Scărlătescu, Florin Dumitrescu and Sorin Bontea. In Servings of Soul (directed by Angel Parra, Jose Antonio Blanco), chef Eneko Atxa and sushi master Jiro Ono, will make an interesting parallel between Spanish and Japanese cuisine. The screening as of 5 June will be followed by a dinner prepared by Sorin Bontea. On 6 June, Cătălin Scărlătescu will cook the dinner to be served after The Turkish Way (directed by Luis Gonzalez), a film about the famous Roca chefs, set on a journey to discover the secrets of the Turkish cuisine. On 7 June, before tasting the delights trademark of Florin Dumitrescu, the audience will watch All About the Argentinian Grill (directed by Mariano Cohn, Gaston Duprat), a journey in the country where the grill is both food and a ritual. During each of the three days, the screenings will take place at Cercul Militar, from 18.30, and the three dinners at Bricks Restaurant, from 20.15.
A special moment will be TIFF Official Party in Form Space, on 9 June, from 23:00. Loredana will deliver a concert in Cluj as a tribute to the regretted composer Adrian Enescu, who passed away almost a year ago. “Bună seara, iubito” (Good evening, my love), “O inimă de 16 ani” (A 16-year old heart) or “Un buchet de trandafiri” (A bouquet of roses) are some of the melodies who were the singer's hits, all of them signed by Adrian Enescu.
Among the unmissable musical events is also the concert to be delivered by Thierry Escaich on Friday, 9 June, at 21.30, playing the organ of the Roman-Catholic Church, “Sfânta Treime”. He will improvise live at the church organ, accompanying Destiny/ Der Müde Tod (directed by Fritz Lang).
A sparkling event at TIFF will surely be the screening of Regii manelelor / The New Gipsy Kings (directed by Liviu Tipuriță), followed by a concert delivered by Kana Jambe, on Wednesday, 7 June, de la 19.00, at the Students Cultural House. The films describe the spectacular success of manele (gypsy songs) and the incredible history of the industry stars. Special guests will be two of the film protagonists, business agents Dan Bursuc and Puiu Gheorghiu.
The documentary Politics, Instructions Manual / Politica, Manual de Instrucciones (directed by Fernando León de Aranoa) provides images from the backstage of PODEMOS evolution, a freshly set-up party that managed during a very short period of time to become the third power in Parliament. The screening will be followed by a debate under the title “Film and Politics’’, to which local politicians and opinion makers are invited.
TIFF House will be this year as well the heart of the Festival's concerts and parties. The cine-concert 360° on Hans Richter Scale proposes a moving black and white portrait of the German artist. CelloFun and Irina Margareta Nistor will accompany live the shorts by the filmmaker. At the same venue, the choir of the “Black Sea Sirens” from The Belgium King will sing the day after the opening concert. Taking advantage of the TIFF House atmosphere, Treeoo & Paolo Profeti European Collective will delight the audience with an Austrian-Romanian Uber-Jam Jazz. Romanian alternative music will be paid a lot of attention this year too, through the concerts delivered by Jurjak, Eyedrops, Silent Strike & Muse Quartet and Otherside.
