TIFF 2017: Buster Keaton, animations of the ‘50s, concerts in churches and British indie

Transilvania International Film Festival (TIFF) will bring, from 2 to 11 June 2017, a strong selection of music, besides the film one.
One day before TIFF opening, on 1 June, from 12.00 (for children) and from 19.00, at the Students' Culture House, a special event will bring back Christine Ott to Cluj, two years after Tabu, with the cine-concert Lotte, mon amour. Seduced by the unique charm of the animated masterpieces by Lotte Reiniger (1899 - 1981), one of the silhouette animation pioneers, Christine Ott composed original music to bring back the magic to these stories.
“You will not need another troupe, ever”, Esquire wrote about the British multi-instrumental due Public Service Broadcasting, who will deliver at TIFF a concert not to be missed. A fascinating mix of indie, electro and pop infusions with audio samples from the public archives and from propaganda materials, the music played by PSB will be accompanied by a spectacular visual show. On the background, images from the 1957 – 1972 USA and USSR archives will be screened, taken during the race for conquering the space. The concert will be held on Saturday, 3 June, from 19.00, at the Students' Culture House.
One of Buster Keaton's masterpieces, the silent film The General(1926), will be accompanied at TIFF by the original music of the French trio Diallèle. The cine-concert is scheduled on Monday, 5 June, from 20.00, at the Students' Culture House.
Special events at TIFF will be the evening concerts in Cluj churches. On 6 June, Jozef van Wissem, Dutch musician and composer established in New York, frequent collaborator of Jim Jarmusch, will sing the melodies composed for the sound track of the film Only Lovers Left Alive, which brought him the Cannes Soundtrack Award 2016.
On 8 June, Charlie Cunningham, one of the ascending voices of the British folk, will enchant the TIFF audience with songs from his new album, Lines. His music is a mix of folk sensitivities with pop with flamenco accents, borrowed from the Spanish culture after his two years spent in Seville.
