„Alone at My Wedding”, in the Romanian Cinemas Starting with November 2, 2018

     Alone at My Wedding/Seule a mon mariage, the Belgium-Romanian coproduction directed by Marta Bergman, which premiered during the ACID program (Association pour le cinéma indépendant et sa diffusion) of the 2018 Cannes Film Festival, will be released in the Romanian cinemas on November 2, 2018 (it is distributed by microFILM).
     Marta Bergman`s feature film directorial debut was shot in Romania and Belgium and stars Alina Șerban andTom Vermeir.
     The film tells the story of Pamela(Alina Șerban), a Romani young woman who is very spontaneous and funny and who lives with her two-year-old daughter and with her grandmother in a tumbling house, where they share the same bed. She dreams of freedom and embarks on an adventure towards the unknown, giving up the traditions that suffocate her. She hopes to get married in order to change her destiny and also her daughter`s.
     Marta Bergman, born in Bucharest, is the author of more documentaries about the Romani community and about the role of the woman in the contemporary society. Her productions were presented in festivals such as Visions du Réel and Leipzig Film Festival.
     Born in a Romani family in Romania, Alina Şerban is an actress and director. She attended the classes of the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in Londra and of the Tisch School of the Arts in New York. Being engaged in her mission to support the Romani community, she became known for her one-woman show “I Declare at My Own Risk”, as an author and performer. Pamela in Alone at My Wedding is her first main part in a feature film.
     The film also features Rebeca Anghel, Marie Denarnaud, Marian Şamu, Viorica Tudor, Johan Leysen, Karin Tanghe and Jonas Bloquet.
     Alone at My Wedding  is a production of the Belgian company Frakas Productions, in association with Hi Film (Ada Solomon) from Romania, in co-production with Avenue B Productions and Zélila Films (Caroline Bonmarchand and Sophie Leclercq), with the support of Rouge International (Julie Gayet and Nadia Turincev) from France.
