Sharon Fridman, invited to BIDFF 2017


     The famous Israeli choreographer, established in Spain, Sharon Fridman is the guest of the 3rd Edition of Bucharest International Dance Film Festival (7-10 September 2017).
     Present for the first time in Romania, Fridman will bring to the stage of the only experimental dance film festival in Romania, the performance that consecrated him – “Cădere liberă”/“Free Fall”/“Caida Libre”. The event will take place in the closing of BIDFF 2017, on 10 September, at 19:30, at the Bucharest National Dance Centre, “Stere Popescu” Hall.
     “Caida Libre” explores an essential trait of human condition: survival. Sharon Fridman looks to explores the way groups are formed in order to offer support, a physical and emotional support allowing us to free fall and then stand up again. This intention is a result of the need to find a space dedicated to the freedom of each individual in a group. The performance was designated “The Best Dance Performance” at Feria Internacional de Teatro y Danza Huesca (2014), and was the big winner of the Gala Premios MAX Madrid (2015).
     Sharon Fridman started his dancing career in 1999, when he joined the prestigious “Ido Tadmor” company, founded in Tel Aviv. Fridman's performing career has been enriched by the experience accumulated through his collaboration with “Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company”, “Vertigo Dance Company”, and by taking part to numerous project for the effervescent “Suzanne Dellal” Centre, one of the most acclaimed for contemporary dance centres in the world. Sharon Fridman Method is based on a few key elements: necessity, genuine spontaneity, verticality, fall, impulse and contact. His latest creations have naturally generated a systematisation of his movement language.
     Sharon Fridman will introduce the performance “Hasta Donde”, a show about which the Spanish daily newspaper “El Pais” wrote: “A jewel full of intensity and nuances, a lack of love to the chaotic duet”. The event will be held on 9 September, in open air, further details being to be announced soon.
