Romanian Film Week in Nice, between 6 – 12 November, 2016

It is the 9th consecutive year when Nice is hosting, at the Mercury theatre hall, the Romanian Film Week, an event set up by the Honorary Consulate of Romania in Nice and by the Prospero Society in Bucharest, with fundin from the National Filmmaking Centre, the Romanian Cultural Institute and in partnership with the Maritime Alps Department.
Stefan de Faÿ, General Honorific Consul of Romania in Nice, initiator of the event, stated: “The goal of the « Week » is to make known Romanian cinema, a very active and dynamic industry, with numerous young directors and constantly present in world-wide competitions. This year, the Romanian cinema event in Nice will take place under the still present shadow of the terror attack on July 14th. The poster of the edition marks our solidarity with the city that has been hosting us for 9 years without interruptions, and the white rose on the poster, one of the 86 white roses on the monument raised in Nice in memory of the victims to blind bestiality, symbolising Cristiel Coman, our compatriot who lost his life together with another 85 victims of 19 nationalities, all of them innocent victims.”
Each screening will start at 19:30 with a short, generally a « d’essai » film, followed by a feature film signed by a consecrated filmmaker. The films available for viewing this year are as follows: Muntele Magic/Magic Mountain (directed by Anca Damian), Inima mea de lut… Ion Nicodim/My Heart of Clay… Ion Nicodim (directed by Laurențiu Damian), Comoara/The Treasure and Pe aripile vinului/On Wine's Wings (directed by Corneliu Porumboiu), Poveste de dragoste/Love Story (directed by Cristina Iacob), O noapte în Tokoriki/A Night in Tokoriki (directed by Roxana Stroe), 03.ByPass (directed by Nap Toader), Mousse au chocolat (directed by Paul Tanicui), Dincolo de căile ferate/By the Railway (directed by Cătălin Mitulescu), Încearcă să nu clipești/Try not to Blink (directed by Radu Dragomir), Eva (directed by Adrian Popovici), Plictis și inspirație/Boredom and Inspiration (directed by Igor Cobileanski), Bună!
