The Film Directors Ralitza Petrova and Andrei Ujică Hold Masterclasses at the Film+ Residence


     From October 28 to November 2, 2019, the Film+ Residency takes place in Bucharest; it is an event that brings together filmmakers that are at the beginning of their journey from Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia and the Republic of Moldova, who need support and mentorship in making their projects. During the Film+ program, the directors Ralitza Petrova and Andrei Ujică will hold two master classes that are open to the public.
     Based on developing and promoting micro-budget audio-video productions, Film+ offers support to the young filmmakers, using the experience acquired by Romanian filmmakers. For six days, the representatives of the 16 selected projects of this edition will take part in one-on-one tutoring sessions, panels, master classes and meetings with established filmmakers. Among the events of the Film+ Residence 2019, there are two master classes open to the public, held by the film directors Ralitza Petrova (Bulgaria) – on Monday, November 28 (from 15:00) at the Teatrul Apollo 111 and Andrei Ujică (Romania) – on Saturday, November 2 (from 16:00) at Teatrul Apollo 111.      Ralitza Petrova, the director of the film Godless, the winner of the Golden Leopard Award for the Best Film at the 2016 Locarno International Film festival will hold a master class on Monday, October 28, from 15:00, at Apollo 111. It will be about originality in the film language, the difficulties of e directorial debut the relationship of the author with the audience, ever since the first stages of developing the script.
     Ralitza Petrova is a graduate of the University of the Arts London (UAL) - Film and Video art section and of the British National Film and Television School (NFTS) - Fiction Directing.
     The Bulgarian director won many awards for her films at the big international festivals – Cannes, Berlin and Locarno. Godless (2016), her feature directorial debut premiered at Locarno and the film received 4 awards. The film has won 27 important awards so far and it was nominated for the European Discovery 2017 category –the FIPRESCI Awards offered by the European Film Academy.
     The importance of choosing the topics and the themes in the creation process are the subjects that the director Andrei Ujică will tackle during his master class on Saturday, November 2, from 16:00, at Apollo 111.
     The FILM+ Program was started by Graphis 122 Association and implemented together with partners and specialists involved in the mentorship program. The fourth edition is co-financed through the Creative Europe – MEDIA Program of the European Commission and the Administration of the National Cultural Fund. The media partners are AaRC.ro, Sub 25, Cinemagia, IQAds, Modernism, Ziarul Metropolis, Filmsi.ro.
