The Gopo Awards Gala, the most important event that rewards the annual local film productions, reached its 12th edition and it will be held in Bucharest, in March 2018.
This year, more than 20 films – documentaries and feature films – that were released in cinemas in 2017, are eligible for the nominations of the 2018 edition of the Gopo Awards. The productions considered eligible are the Romanian films produced in Romania, or co-produced, with Romanian majority participation, which had the premiere in Romania, between January, the 1st and December, the 31st 2017 and which ran at least one week in cinemas with tickets access.
Among the eligible films for the title of the Best Romanian Film of 2017, there are: Ana, mon amour
(the winner of the Silver Bear for Outstanding Artistic Contribution at the Berlinale), Fixeur
) Romania`s proposal for the 2018 Oscars and also box office films such as Octav
(The Ill-fated Guy
), 6,9 pe scara Richter
(6.9 on the Richter Scale
or Un pas în urma serafimilor
(One Step Behind the Seraphim
). This year, among the eligible films, there are four documentaries released in 2017: Planeta Petrila
), Țara moartă
), Ouăle lui Tarzan
) and Lovesc, deci exist
(I Hit Therefore I Am

For the category Best documentary
and Best short film
, the films must be submitted by the producers, in order to be considered by the jury that will decide the nominations. The submissions for the 12th edition must be made between January, the 10th and January, the 25th, 2018.
The producers and the filmmakers from Romania that produced a documentary or a short film are invited to fill in the technical form which is available on the www.premiilegopo.ro
official website and then to send it together with the link with the screener to the following e-mail address: firstname.lastname@example.org.
The nominations for all the categories will be decided by a pre-selection jury made of professionals from the film industry. After announcing the nominees (one month before the Gala), over 450 active professionals from all the fields of the Romanian film industry will be invited to vote the winners, using an online voting system through a vote mechanism configured and handled by PwC Romania, partners of the Gopo Awards since 2011.
