One World Romania lines up for its 10th edition

The One World Romania International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival celebrates its 10th edition in 2017.
Between March 13th and March 19th over 50 documentaries, selected from over 1300 submissions, will be screened in Bucharest in cinemas like Elvire Popesco, Eforie, Union and Horia Bernea Studio. In addition, OWR will schedule all throughout the week several side events such as debates, workshops, exhibitions.
At One World Romania’s 10th edition we will talk about fear – in general – and about its different manifestations in our society. We live in a global world, yet we are inclined to return to the past, to draw new boundaries, to close our walls. Corrupted politicians all around the world make use of our weaknesses and fears and succeed in getting on top by exploiting them. The films in OWR explore the origins of our fears and how we can get over them. The titles of the 2017 edition will be soon announced.
One World Romania’s visual identity suggests the general theme of the festival by using as a symbol the Russian puppets-Matrioshka. All ten puppets illustrate respectively one of the editions of the festival but there is also a representation of fear. The puppets are designed by Square Cat (Alex Ciobotariu) and animated by Tudor OM.
The 9th to 12th grade pupils can apply, up till Feb 19, for a position in the Highschool Jury of OWR by writing and sending over an essay on “Fear creates monsters. Resist it!”
From all applicants, the organizers will choose 5 youngsters who will award the only prize of the festival.
