On 22 September, at the 8th Edition of the event The Romanian Film White Night, Bucharest-based viewers will have the opportunity to see the latest stories directed by Romanian filmmakers, as well as classic movies. Moreover, the viewers will find out backstage details from the very makers of these productions, during only one night.
The Romanian Farmer Museum, Cinema Elvire Popesco, Grădina cu Filme (The Film Garden), Unteatru, J’ai Bistrot and Deschis Gastrobar are some of the locations where the screenings will be held. Other screenings will be set up in various sectors of Bucharest, in order to facilitate the access to the event to as many Romanian film lovers as possible.
On 22 September, from the productions released over the last year, the viewers will have the opportunity to see
Ana, mon amour (directed
by
Călin Peter Netzer), a film not recommended to minors, about a complex and toxic couple relationship, winner of the Silver Bear in Berlin for artistic contribution.
Inimi cicatrizate / Scarred Hearts (directed by
Radu Jude), winner of the Special Award of the Jury at Locarno, of the Romanian Film Days Award at TIFF and of four Gopo Trophies, is focused on a love story and is a free adaptation of the literary work by Max Blecher, starring Lucian Teodor Rus,
Ivana Mladenović and Ilinca Hărnuţ in the leading roles.
“A film about abuse and manipulation”, as
Adrian Sitaru characterises his latest production,
Fixeur having as Radu as protagonist, a resident at the Bucharest office of the France Presse Agency, to whom is given the opportunity to prove his skills, but who understands that the fierceness he puts into following his vocation is a doubtful one.
Vara s-a sfârșit / End of Summer (directed by
Radu Potcoavă) brings back the atmosphere of the late ‘90s, around eclipse time, when two young kids become friends and take life-changing decisions.
Ultima zi / The Last Day, directed by
Gabriel Achim, is a “comic thriller” about a small town man who decided to become a monk. The mayor, the policeman and the
head of the Young Christians Association lead their friend on his way to the convent. The mayor, an amateur director, has some secret plans for hi.
The section 10 years since debut, inaugurated at the last year's edition of Romanian Film White Night, brings a special screening of the feature
California Dreamin’ (Nesfârșit) / California Dreaming' (Endless), directed by
Cristian Nemescu and winner of Un Certain Regard at Cannes. To these productions, a selection of the latest Romanian shorts is added, which was also screened at TIFF 2017, within the Romanian Film Days. The selection includes
Offstage (directed by
Andrei Huțuleac),
Sechestrați fără voie / Hostages Against Their Will (directed by Tudor Botezatu),
Prima noapte / First Night (directed by Andrei Tănase),
Fragment 22 (directed by Stela Pelin) and
No Man’s Land (directed by Marius Olteanu). Furthermore, the programme will include two surprise movies, to be announced right on 22 September, shortly before their screening.
