“Manifesto” to be screened at the 2017 BIEFF Closing Gala

At the Closing Gala of this year’s edition, Bucharest International Experimental Film Festival (March 28 – April 2, 2017) presents the Romanian premiere of the must-see film Manifesto which features Cate Blanchett in 13 different roles that come together in an outstanding masterclass in performance.
At first elaborated as a video installation, German visual artist Julian Rosefeldt’s film, Manifesto, was exhibited worldwide in renowned art galleries and museums.
Julian Rosefeldt on how he approached the project: “Art history is a derivation of history and we learn from history. Artists, as well as writers, philosophers and scientists, have always been the ones who have dared to formulate thoughts and visions whose consistency had yet to be proven. We seem to be well advised to read artist manifestos as seismographs of their age. And in a time where neo-nationalist, racist and populist tendencies in politics and media threaten again democracies all over the world and challenge us to defend our allegedly achieved values of tolerance and respect, Manifesto becomes a clarion call for action”.
This year the members of the Jury of the BIEFF International Competition are: Nora Molitor (Representative of Berlinale Forum Expanded and Arsenal Institute Berlin), Paolo Moretti (Selection Committee member of FIDMarseille and programme advisor for Visions du Réel) and Călin Dan (Selection Committee member of FIDMarseille and program advisor for Visions du Réel).
