KINOdiseea 2016: ”That Trip We Took with Dad” preview

The film written and directed by Anca Miruna Lăzărescu, who makes her feature film directorial debut with this film produced by Strada Film, had its preview in the KINOdiseea Youth section of the festival. After the screening, the director, the producer Daniel Mitulescu and the actors attended the q&a session with the audience.
That Trip We Took with Dad / La drum cu tata is the story of a father (Ovidiu Schumacher) and of his two sons (Alex Mărgineanu și Răzvan Enciu) who embark on a journey, by car, towards Eastern Germany in 1968, during the Russian

invasion of Czechoslovakia. It is the first Romanian film that refer to that period and the screenwriter and director Anca Miruna Lăzărescu needed a few years to finish this story which is deeply personal, because one of the characters – Emil (RăzvanEnciu) is her father. After listening to the many stories that her father told her many times, the filmmaker decided that this was the best topic for her feature film debut.

Even if quite many of the KINOdiseea spectators knew nothing about what happened in 1968, the film won them over thanks to the screenplay which is very intelligently written, to the acting skills of the actors and to its authentic cinematography. That Trip We Took with Dad received awards both from the festival jury (Discovery Awards in theKINOdiseea Youth section) and also from the audience - Best Youth Film Award. The film is scheduled to be released in the Romanian cinemas in the spring of 2017.

The director Anca Miruna Lăzărescu who has been living in Germany since she was 10 years old was really anxious to meet the Romanian audience and was deeply impressed by how the people responded to it.

The actor Alex Mărgineanu told us about the difficulties of playing this character; one of the challenges he faced was the German language and saying the lines with a certain accent.
