The film's picturesque characters will be present on TIFF stage, and one of the night's surprises will be the extraordinary concert by the choir “The Black Sea Mermaids”, the female band in the film, led by Nina Nikolina, star of folklore music in Bulgaria. The band in the film is made of singers
selected from famous choirs in the neighbouring country:
The Mystery of the Bulgarian Voices, Grammy winner in 1990,
Filip Kutev Ensamble, Slavey Quartet and
Cosmic Voices from Bulgaria.
Other special guests at the opening gala will be American director and screenwriter Jessica Woodworth, the protagonist of the film – the “King” Peter Van den Begin, actors Titus de Voogdt and Lucie Debay, together with Eka Bichinashvili, costume designer, and scenographer Sabina Christova.
The closing of the 16th edition of TIFF will be equally spectacular.
