On Friday, July 12, 2019, starting with 8 o`clock p.m., Eforie Hall (Jean Georgescu) of the Romanian Cinemateque in Bucharest (Eforie street, no.2), is where the 24th edition of the FILM Cineclub, the last one in the 2018-2019 season will take place. This event will include the screening (on 35mm.) of another important film in the history of the Romanian cinema:
To Kill a Bird of Prey / Lovind o pasăre de pradă (1983) directed by
Iosif Demian. On the occasion, the
new number of the FIM magazine (2 / 2019, the 24th in the history of this trimestral magazine edited by UCIN), which includes a substantial interview with the filmmaker Iosif Demian. The event at the Eforie Cinematheque will be introduced by the filmmaker and professor
Laurenţiu Damian, the president of the Romanian Filmmakers Union. The event will also be attended by the film critic and professor
Dana Duma, the editor-in-chief and by other editors and collaborators of the FILM magazine.
To Kill a Bird of Prey is the film adaptation of the novel “Un biet bunic și o biată cinste” written by Petre Sălcudeanu. At the autopsy of a young girl`s dead body, they discover that the victim had died long before the accident. Taking up the case, “Grandpa” and his help, Panaitescu, discover that the author of the fake accident is blackmailed by some guys who want to get some money. A
sequel to
A Girl`s Tears / O lacrimă de fată (1980) – another adaptation of the “Grandpa” series written by Petre Sălcudeanu and directed by Iosif demian – the film is a
policier representing maybe a unique case in the cinema world: a sequel in which the main actors (George Negoescu and
Dorel Vişan) switched the characters they played in the first film.
The FILM Cineclub is a series of events (special projects of remarkable Romanian films, presented in new or restored copies, accompanied by discussions with the guests) organized by the National Film Archive – the Romanian Cinematheque, in collaboration with the FILM magazine, the trimestral publication of the Romanian Filmmakers Union (UCIN).
The access fee to these events is 5 lei.
