fARAD Lab is expecting its participants to the 2019 edition, which will take place from October 1 and 6, at Cinema Arta in Arad, during the fARAD festival. Destined to the young professionals of the documentary film, the lab approaches the connection between the technical and artistic part of the creative documentary, during some intensive workshop with internationally renowned mentors.
Started in 2016, during the fARAD Documentary Film Festival, it has a unique profile in Romania, partially shaped after the Sundance, Independent Filmmaker Project and IDFA labs. The lab includes feedback sessions with the special guests of the festival, regarding the projects in development of the participants and a practical workshop on the theme “The sound of the documentary as part of the creative vision”, held by
Dana Bunescu, one of the most important editors and sound designers of the new wave of the Romanian cinema.
The participants will have the possibility to access technical information, but also an entire network of professional support, under the guidance of some professionals from the national and international community of the documentary filmmakers. Vlad Petri (RO), editor Erin Casper (USA), producers Steven Lake (UK) and Bianca Oana (RO), alongside the creative team of the festival.
“The fARAD Festival is impressive, full of soul and I appreciated especially the energy of the lab – a very good selection of the projects and a variety of mentors, discussions both constructive and generous”, the director Tristan Ferland Milewski and the composer My Name is Claude, mentors of the 2018 edition said.
fARAD Lab is geared towards the independent creative documentary authors – directors, alongside other members of the creative team (directors of photography, sound designers, editors or creative producers), who made at least one short film and a feature length documentary, at the most. The deadline for the applications is September 4, 2019. The participation at the lab is free.
