The films of June at the Arta Cinema in Arad

     At the Arta Cinema the month of June started with Très Court International Film Festival – the marathon of the very short films (June 5-6). The beginning of the film summer looks generous, with a program full of Romanian short films and feature films, premieres, festival films and special screenings with special guests.
The screenings from the Arta Cinema are organized with the support of the Arad City Hall, the Arad City Culture Centre and the CitiZenit Association.
     From June 7 to June 9, the Secret Discussion Festival brings five films about marginalization, decay and ruins. Two Romanian short films about marginal worlds will be screened in

 this programme on Friday, June 8, from 18:30: Mohamed Tomescu and The Bed Is Broken / Patul e stricat. During the same festival, from Thursday to Saturday, the Arad audience will have the chance to watch three feature films and to get to talk to their authors. On Thursday the screening of Soldiers/ Soldații. Poveste din Ferentari (directed by Ivana Mladenović) was followed by a Q&A with Adrian Schiop. On Friday, after the screening of In Praise of Nothing, the director Boris Mitić attended the Q&A. On Saturday, Miron Zownir, the director of Estrangement  Is Death (18:00), will meet the audience.

The access to the five screenings of the Secret Discussion Festival is free.
     This month the Arta Cinema will not be short of film premieres either. On Thursday, June 14, starting with 20:00, the Arad viewers will have the chance to watch the long-waited Hungarian film The Whiskey Bandit, directed by Nimród Antal. On Friday, June 15, at 20:00 Charleston (directed by Andrei Creţulescu) will have the premiere in Arad.
Les films de Cannes Caravan arrives again on the silver screen from Arad, with some of the best recent art films, presented and awarded at the most important film festival in the world. On June 21, starting with 20:00, the Arad audience will be able to see the Iranian film A man of Integrity, winner of the Un Certain regard Award at the 2017 edition of the Cannes Film Festival. By the end of the month, on June 29, BPM (Beats Per Minute) is scheduled from 20:00. The film received four awards at the 2017 Cannes festival: Grand Prix, Prix de la FIPRESCI, François Chalais Prize, Queer Palm.
     On Sunday, June 24, from 21:00 a special screening will take place at the Arta Cinema, on the inauguration of the summer garden: the masterpiece of the German silent cinema, The Golem, accompanied by ambient music composed especially and played live by the DANAGA band.
On June 28, the program the Romanian Film Retrospective continues with the 4th edition, presenting three documentaries made by three female directors: The Japanese Quince Tree / Gutuiul japonez (directed by Mara Trifu), If 6 Were 9 / Dacă 6 ar fi 9 (directed by Ivana Mladenović) and Don`t get Me Wrong / Nu te supăra, dar… (directed by Adina Pintilie). after the screening, the viewers will be able to talk to the programmer and film critic Andrei Rus.
