European Film Festival in Iași from May 12 to May 14


     The European Film Festival   returns to Iași from May 12 to May 14, 2017, where 9 recent films are to be screened at the Casa de Cultură “Mihai Ursachi”, with the support of embassies and cultural institutes from Finland, Germany, France, Poland, Hungary and Lithuania.
     The Other Side of Hope (Finland, 2017, directed by Aki Kaurismäki) will open the European Film Festival in Iași, Tîrgu Mureș (May 19 – May 21), Gura Humorului (May 19 – May 21) and Timișoara (May 26 – May 28).
     The selection of the films to be screened in Iași also highlights the most recent feature directed by Gabriel AchimUltima zi / The Last Day (Romania, 2016), which opens in theaters on May 12. The film was awarded the Romanian Film Days Prize at TIFF 2016 and it will be screened on May 13, at 8.30 p.m. A part of the film crew will be present after the screening for a Q&A session.
     Two other landmark films that are to be screened are Afterimage (Poland, 2016), Andrzej Wajda’s last film, and Sergei Loznitsa’s documentary, Austerlitz (Germany, 2016).
