The Sarajevo Film Festival will take place, “without any doubt”

The organisers of the Sarajevo Film Festival declared that the event will take place in August, “without any doubt”, while the organisers of the Jerusalem Film Festival decided to postpone the 2020 edition.
The Sarajevo Film Festival Mirsad Purivatra told Screen: “We launched our festival during the Siege in 1995 when there were bombings, snipers and no food, water or
electricity. To host an online version of the festival would betray our mission even in the face of this invisible enemy. So there is no doubt the Sarajevo Film Festival will
be able to answer the Covid-19 situation creatively.” While the Sarajevo festival goes ahead with its scheduling for August and the Karlovy Vary and Locarno ones prepare to declare their plans, the organisers of the Jerusalem Film Festival took the decision to postpone this year`s edition for July 16 to 26, 2020.
Noa Regev, the executive director of the Jerusalem Film Festival and the Jerusalem Cinematheque and JFF artistic director Elad Samorzik, explore all the options alongside the festival board of directors, including new dates during the summer.
