The organisers of the Locarno Film Festival announced the cancellation of this year`s edition.
Nevertheless, the organizing team decided to offer an alternative to the classic film festival concept. The aim is to continue to offer support to the international film industry. “Locarno 2020 – For the Future of Films” will include online events and screenings, but also screenings at physical venues in complete safety – when the situation will allow.
This announcement came one day after the Karlovy Vary Film Festival, another A-list festival, made public a similar decision.
