Ethan Hawke, guest star at the American Independent Film Festival

     Four times nominated to the Oscars, Ethan Hawke is the special guest star of the first Edition of the American Independent Film Festival, to take place from 15 to 21 September 2017, at Cinema PRO and at Cinematheque Eforie in Bucharest.
     The actor will talk to the Bucharest audience on 21 September, at Cinema PRO, at the end of the special screening of the film Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead, directed by Sydney Lumet.
Inspired from the tradition of the great American narrative films, American Independent Film Festival intends to present a selection of the latest independent productions made in USA, titles acclaimed by the critic and screened at big festivals. The first Edition of the American Independent Film Festival includes film screenings, talks with special guests and the section Focus Ethan Hawke. Within this section, film lovers will have the opportunity to view in premiere in Romania the latest films in the actor's portfolio - Maudie (directed byAisling Walsh), a dysfunctional love story based on real events, where Hawke plays alongside Sally Hawkins, and Born to Be Blue (directed byRobert Budreau), a bio drama about the famous trumpet player Chet Baker. The section will be completed by the celebrated Boyhood, by Richard Linklater – Best Film at the Golden Globes 2015, and Before Midnight, directed byRichard Linklater, after a script written by the director together with Ethan Hawke and July Delpy (Oscar nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay).
American Independent Film Festival is organised by Cinemascop Association in partnership with the Town Hall of Bucharest Municipality through ARCUB, supported by Catena, and also with the support of the United States Embassy in Romania, of the American Chamber of Commerce in Romania – AmCham Romania, and of TAP AIR Portugal.
