The Witch Nuns / Călugăriţele Vrăjitoare, the documentary distributed by Paradox Film had its premiere in Bucharest and now it can be watched in other cities as well. The documentary is directed by Marius Th. Barna, based on a screenplay written by Doina Ruşti.
The film focuses on a case that happened in Bucharest on August, 15, 1715. The plot starts when Păuna Cantacuzino has a seizure during the religious service for the Dormition of the Thetokos. The case is studied and connected to the betrayal suspicions that she and her husband were under. In order to get rid of the accusations, a possible explanation that was brought was that the Princess had been cast a spell upon. Starting from this speculation, the destiny of three nuns was cut short. The three women were sentenced to death and the Princess Păuna Cantacuzino is free of any accusation.
The documentary includes interviews with: Antoaneta Olteanu, Bogdan Popa, Vintilă Mihăilescu, Aurora Liiceanu, Eugen Negrici, Soralta Solcan. The cinematographer is Sorin Gociu, and the soundtrack is signed by Petru Mărgineanu.
