On Wednesday, March 21, 2018, OWR brings 13 documentaries, 2 screenings for the high school students and a super-party at the end of the evening. The meetings with the guests of the festival continues as well: al ARCUB, at 12:00 starts the discussion with the directors Thierry Michel
(Children of Chance), Cosmin Bumbuț and Elena Stancu
(The Residents), Tereza Nvotova
(The Lust for Power) andi Mona Nicoară
(The Distance Between Me and Me). After the screening of each fragment of the three films, you can offer feedback to the filmmakers.
The first screening starts at 16:00 (Arcub – Big Hall), where
Alpha Beta Gamma, the documentary directed by Dragoș Turea. The film is built on secret confessions and testimonies of the scientists who were directly involved in the implementation
of radioactive experiments, when the Republic of Moldova became the most important experimental field of application of atomic energy in Soviet agriculture.
Starting 18:00 (in the same location), Nora Agapi will present her project called Timebox. The film focuses Ioan Matei Agapi, the director`s father, a photographer and documentary filmmaker. Through their discussions and the secrets that come out in the open, the documentary brings forth the old confrontation between reality and art.
From 20:00 (at Arcub), the screening of Mona Nicoară`s documentary, The Distance Between Me and Me, takes place. It
explores the friction between individual memory and official archives, between our present reality and the fictions we build about the past. Nina`s thoughts during her last year of life are set against a rich archive of films, music, poems, television
appearances, never-before-seen private recordings and secret police surveillance materials.

The Lust for Power and
Close Relations.
The Lust for Power follows the story of the rise of Vladimír Mečiar, a charismatic individual associated with 1990s`Slovakia, from being a lawyer in a provincial town, to becoming president. After the screening, the viewers will have the chance to talk to the director Tereza Nvotova.
The director Vitaly Mansky brings his documentary
Close Relations to OWR. Of Polish origins and coming from Lithuania, his family seems to have become Ukrainian out of sheer stubbornness. Mansky himself became a Russian citizen, though by accident of history. After the screening, Vitaly Mansky will attend the Q&A.
The evening ends with a screening of the documentary
Silvana, at Apollo 111, from 20:30. The screening will be followed by a party with the music chosen by DJ Bitchcraft. The event will also focus on fund raising for seven transgender people, supported by the Accept Association and TRANSform.
