Debates, First Aid Lessons and Workshops for Children at the Arkadia ShortFest

The program of the 5th edition of the Arkadia ShortFest includes many debates and workshops, thus keeping alive the festival tradition of creating a complete experience, integrated for the art and culture loving people. The new festival venue set up at the Unbar (Corbu village, Constanța county), is the place where besides screenings, exhibitions and parties, three debates on culture, environment and social responsibility will be organized and also three (re)creative/creational workshops for children, an first-aid workshop and a masterclass dedicated to those interested in the film industry.
The first practical activity will take place on Thursday, August 16, from 12:00 – “First-Aid Lessons” – and will be held by Oana Brătilă, the initiator of the social involvement movement #HaiCuMine, a blogger speaking on social importance themes and co-founder of the Mokko Atelier.
On the same day, from 19:00, the first debate brought by Arkadia ShortFest will take place – “The culture of protest and the contemporary art”, moderated by Dan Lazea. During the debate answers will be searched to questions such as “how did the recent culture of protest develop?” and “who are the stages and the relevant actors of this process?”
On Friday and Saturday, from 12:00, the children are welcome to the creative workshops brought by the actress Iulia Verdeș – “The Little Prince – an interactive reading”. Starting from the famous book written by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, the little ones will embark on an adventure of imagination and creativity, with many fantastic characters and colorful ideas. For 60 minutes the children will become storytellers, drawing artists and actors. “learning through playing is the most efficient and free form of learning and it contributes to the harmonious developing of the children.      It is very important for a child to have as many possible instruments at hand, by means of which to express their imagination, that is why during my workshops I always use reading, playing and drawing at the same time” Iulia said. She is a trainer of cultural education, with more than 5 years of experience in organizing creative and personal development workshops.
On Friday, August 17, from 17:00, those who are passionate about the film industry are welcome to attend the masterclass “Casting Call” held by Dan Ursu, casting director for the online casting and talent management platform castingTV.ro. The day continues with another debate scheduled at 19:00, held by the WWF Romania expert Cristina Munteanu, The theme is “Protect the sturgeons, the most valuable gift of the Danube.” She will speak about the sturgeons, one of the most fascinating and most endangered species of migratory fish in the world and about the efforts that the organization has made these past 6 years, in order to preserve them.
The day of Saturday, August 18, is dedicated to the environmental topics. An interactive workshop for children, organized by WWf Romania will start at 13:00. The little ones will have the chance to become explorers of the Danube and to go deep into the world of this ecosystem. From 19:00, WWF Romania brings another topic on the debate table – “actionez.ro: the first online platform to pin down all the environmental issues”.
The participation to all the workshops and debates is upon seats availability, based on the ticket or festival pass.
