All about Romanian Cinema (in short Aarc.ro) is a website that, as its name intends to say, wants to contain a complete image, as much as possible, of the Romanian cinema – of yesterday, of today and why not, of tomorrow. Its bipolar structure contains a magazine and a data base. The magazine includes news, film reviews, interviews, reports from the shooting sets, articles that illustrates the present situation, the life of the Romanian cinema, no matter where it happens – meaning both mainly in the country and also abroad (festival participations, filmmakers from Romania with projects in other countries, but also Romanian filmmakers who live and also work in other parts of the world).
The data base is made of records of films and filmmakers – plus a chronology meant to gather as many and as correct data possible about the different productions (feature film, short film, documentary and animation) and their authors, from the beginning of the cinema, in our country. We don`t think we are original in this field and we state that the closest example is the well-known IMDB pattern.
It is an ambitious endeavor, even a bit foolish, because our intention is to swim in a real ocean of information, it`s a project that some of the members of the Film Critics Association suggested to the Film Union and the latter has the courage and the trust to go along with it. Frankly speaking, under which other aegis would have been appropriate for such a website to come to being other than this place where the creating forces of the Romanian cinema have been gathering for the past half a century?
At the same time, we can say this is a project that will never come to an end and that will be alive as long as funds will exist and also people willing to invest work, professionalism and enthusiasm in it.
