“Loving Vincent”, on April 27, 2018 at the Merlin Theatre in Timișoara

Vincent van Gogh died at the age of 37, leaving behind more than 2,000 paintings. The polish director Dorota Kobiela, together with the Oscar winning director, the British Hugh Welchman, co-directed this film.
125 painters from all over the world, including two Romanian artists, Carmen Belean and Cătălina Codreanu, made 62,450 frames painted in oil. The film presents the life and the controversial death of the genius that was Vincent van Gogh. The large audiences showed their interest ever since the first press releases; the teaser-trailer was watched by more than 130 million people before the premiere and distributed in social media more than 3 million times.
Loving, Vincent is the way the artist ended the letters he wrote to his brother, Theo. The film starts from his last, unfinished letter and displays on screen the painter`s life, though a modern technique of animating his works.
The young actress Saoirse Ronan, who had a nomination for this year`s Oscars, for Best Performance in a Leading Role for Lady Bird, lent her voice to the character Marguerite Gachet. Douglas Booth, known for Romeo and Juliet and Jupiter`s Ascension lent his voice to the character Armand Roulin. Among other actors, we mention Jerome Flynn (famous for playing Bronn in the HBO series Game of Thrones), Chris O`Dowd (Thor: the Darkness, Molly`s Game, Miss Peregrine`s Home for Peculiar Children), Helen McCrory (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows, Sherlock Holmes and the Case of the Silk Stocking, Casanova) and the polish actor Robert Gulaczyk playing the part of Vincent van Gogh.
The film is produced by Breakthru Films and Trademark Films.
