Constantin Petre, an expert in pyrotechnics and special effects, will be awarded the Special Prize at the 11th edition of the Gopo Awards Gala. The event will take place on Tuesday, March 21 at the National Theatre in Bucharest.
Constantin Petre has worked for over 40 years on movie sets, creating the most spectacular special effects, handling smoke machines and working on gunshot illusions in Romanian and international film productions. He’s known in the branch as “Mr. Bombi” or “Bombardel”, a nickname given by his colleagues that can be seen on the end credits of the films he’s worked on over the years.
Until 1975, when he got his license in pyrotechnics, Constantin Petre worked on films such as
