“Today, in Romania, live all in all 10.000 Jewish people at the most. In Bukovina, they seem to have almost disappeared. This rather complete physical absence is in a strange contrast with the silent but marked presence of the synagogues and of the Jewish graveyards.” (dr. Simon Geissbühler, “The Jewish Graveyards in Bukovina”, NOI Media Print, 2009)
The event at the Romanian Cultural Institute in Vienna marks the International Day for the Commemoration of the Holocaust Victims and is organized in the context of Romania detaining (starting March 2016 till March 2017) the presidency of the International Alliance for the Memory of the Holocaust (IHRA).
