The 2018 Docuart Caravan Docuart reaches Sibiu and Târgu Jiu

The Docuart Caravan continues its fifth edition itinerary with the next stops in Sibiu (March 21, 2018) and Târgu Jiu (March 22 and 23, 2018), with a selection of contemporary Romanian documentaries, which received awards and which haven`t got much exposure.
The first stop is in Sibiu, at the Habitus Bookshop where two films will be screened: the best student film and the documentary which received the best cinematography award (in the main festival section) of the 2017 Bucharest Docuart Festival (BDF). He Who Loves and Lets Go/ Cine iubește și lasă (directed by Victor Gălușcă) is scheduled at 20:00. It tells the story of the 4,000 photo negatives from the `60s found in an abandoned house, in an almost deserted village in Romania. From 20:30 Secondo Me, directed by Pavel Cuzuioc, will be screened.
The next stop on the Caravan map is Târgu Jiu, where the viewers have the chance to enjoy 8 screenings in two days. The event will take place at the Constantin Brâncuși University, the Amphitheatre Hall 1, ground floor (Cal. Eroilor no. 30).
The first screening day (March 22) starts at 18:00 with the same He Who Loves and Lets Go. From 18:20 we learn the lesson on how by acting on the micro-level, we can influence the macro one, through the documentary made by Ioana Grigore - Always on the run, but not today/ Mereu pe fugă, dar nu și astăzi. After the screening, Ioana will attend the Q&A to tell more about the case of the village in which there is an ecological practice thanks to only one man`s initiative. From 19:00, Variations on a Name/ Variațiuni pe un nume, directed by Violeta Gorgos, which won the the best TV documentary award at the 2017 BDF. The evening ends with the production that received the Best Romanian Documentary of the Year - Cabbage, Potatoes and other Demons/Varză, cartofi și alți demoni (directed by Șerban Georgescu). The film is a satire of the current realities in the European agriculture which watches closely the case of a village in Romania, through the very eyes of the film director.
On Friday, March 23, the Caravan brings three student short films, starting with 18:00. They are Forbidden…to Still Water/ Interzis... la apă plată (R. Ioan Vintilă) – a glimpse of the night life of a club in Bucharest, A Failed Life/ O viață ratată  (directed by Eugeniu Bocancea), the history of resistance of a National Peasant`s Party follower, in front of the repressions of the Socialist regime in Romania. And Rise Up (directed
by Adrian Moisiu, Marius Mihordescu)  - the glimpses of consciousness that a Bucharest taxi driver had one week before a surgery; the film won the award for best cinematography, inits section. After the screenings, the young directors will attend the Q&As.
The Caravan ends with the screening of the film Camera Obscura/Camera Obscură starting with 19:45. It presents the phenomenon of the film-clubs during the Communist era in Romania. It is a piece of history, which was researched very carefully by the director Gheorghe Preda; the stories are told by some of the people who organized them back then.
The project is organized by the Docuart Cultural Association for Romanian Documentary and represents an exte
