Cannes` Marché du Film unveils details about the 2020 online edition

Marché du Film, the film market organised by the Cannes Film Festival moves online. This year`s edition (June 22-26) will be hosting virtual booths for sales agents, video meetings, virtual pavilions for institutions and online screenings. The

well-known conferences including Cannes Docs, Cannes Next and Producers Network will also be turned into virtual events.
Jerome Paillard, the head of the Marché du Film said that the organizing of the digital edition is addressing a need of the film industry to have “a spring rendez-vous before the summer” in these difficult times.
The announcement comes in a moment when all eyes are on Cannes. The 2020 edition, initially scheduled for May, then postponed until June, had to face Emmanuel Macron`s decision of suspending all festivals until mid-July. Though the organizers initially announced that they are not considering a possible online edition, then they mentioned that they were searching for new options. In the meantime, three parallel sections of the festival cancelled their 2020 editions.
