Over the next days, within the central section of the program entitled “Revolution in Realism. New Romanian Cinema”, several meetings with representative Romanian filmmakers will be held.
If the voice of the film critics were heard at the beginning of the program, at the round table attended by Dominique Nasta,
Andrei Gorzo and Nick Roddick, respectively at the lecture delivered by Geoff Andrew, the British curator of the “Revolution in Realism” season, now it is the turn of the directors to have their say at the debate on the New Romanian Wave's destiny. The discussion on the topic “The New Romanian Cinema from the Perspective of the Filmmakers” will be held on 28 June at the British Film Institute, being moderated by Geoff Andrew, and bringing together three significant names of our recent cinematography:
Anca Damian,
Tudor Giurgiu and
Radu Muntean.
On 27 June, director Tudor Giurgiu will attend the special screening of his political thriller
De ce eu?/Why Me?, released in 2015, the screening being followed by a dialogue with the film lovers from London. On 30 June, the same routine will be followed by composer Cristian Lolea, the author of the score of the latest film by
Marian Crișan,
Orizont/Horizon, presented in premiere in the UK.
After the
closing of the season at British Film Institute, the program will be carried on, between 7-14 July, with a special section at the ICR London Cinematheque, which will the films:
California Dreamin’ (directed by
Cristian Nemescu),
Francesca (directed by Bobby Păunescu), and
