The third day of One World Romania 10

On Wednesday, 15th March, One World Romania (13-19th March 2017) continues the series of screenings designed for high school students at Eforie Cinema. They are scheduled to start from 10:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. and at 5:00 p.m. a new debate will take place at Rezidenţa Scena9, entitled “Diseases of the Health System”. The speakers are Bogdan Tănase (president of the Doctors’ Alliance), Carmen Uscatu and Oana Gheorghiu (the Association Dăruiește Viață), Bogdan Andreescu (former manager of Colentina Hospital), Florin Iordache (department head at Floreasca Hospital) and Vlad Mixich (expert in Health Policies).
Rezidenţa Scena9 will be showcasing until next Sunday the photo exhibition entitled “It Could Be You” by Laurențiu Garofeanu as well as a mini anniversary exhibition of the One World Romania Festival.
Today’s recommendations are brought by Adina Brădeanu (festival programmer): “The documentary Burning Out puts forth a long-term inside look at the everyday of a surgery department of a Parisian hospital where the managers are reciting the efficiency/productivity/performance mantra while the doctors are trying to remain focused on deontology, humanism – and, sometimes, on treating their own fatigue. If you can’t wait until 8:30 p.m., the narrative thread focused on health matters can also be found in My Talk with Florence, this time, in relation to mental health. Of all the films exploring individual traumas included in this year’s lineup, this is probably the most radical one from an aesthetic point of view; one of the reasons might be that we’re dealing with a type of trauma experienced at the intersection with the artistic, namely with the Viennese Actionism practiced by members of the Friedrichshof community. A much more serene film is to be found in the area dealing with the social construction of health, Normal Autistic Film (directed by Miroslav Janek), one of the most beautiful, intelligent and empathetic films of this year’s edition.”
Adina Brădeanu also recommends Difficult Choice (directed by Zuzana Piussi) and Patriotic Lessson (directed by Filip Jacobson), included in the “Political Animals” program.
Wednesday is also the day in which Claudiu Mitcu and Ileana Bîrsan will be presenting a fragment from the documentary Procesul/ The Trial, a film that documents the case of Mihai Moldoveanu, a former Romanian army officer sentenced to 25 years in prison for a crime he claims he did not commit.
