“6.9 on the Richter Scale” by Nae Caranfil to open TIFF 2016

6,9 pe scara Richter (6.9 on the Richter Scale), the latest feature by director Nae Caranfil, is to be internationally premiered at the opening of the 15th Edition of Transylvania International Film Festival (27 May – 5 June).
The film will be screened in the Unirii Square of Cluj-Napoca on Friday, 27 May, at 21:45, with the director attending. The opening Gala preceding the screening will start at 20:30, and will include, among other surprise, a surely memorable show by the renowned French troupe Transe Express.
A “partially realist, partially non-realist” comedy, according to director and screenwriter Nae Caranfil, 6.9 on the Richter Scale is the story of a young stage actor who struggles with a difficult part in a musical, with a depressingly jealous wife and with the obsession of a devastating earthquake, announced as imminent by all experts. But the true “earthquake” for him proves to be the unexpected arrival of his own father, who has been gone for decades. Manipulative and immoral, he settles into his son's world confiscating all his personal space and turning his life totally upside down.
The cast is made up of the following actors: Teodor Corban, Laurențiu Bănescu, Maria Obretin and Simona Arsu. Vivi Drăgan Vasile signed the photography, and Cătălin Cristuțiu – the editing. A Romania-Bulgaria-Hungary co-production, 6.9 on the Richter Scale was produced by Mobra Film, Korund-X Ltd. and Cinemafilm, with the support of Eurimages, and is to be distributed in Romania by Voodoo Films.
