The feature film 5 Minute / 5 Minutes Too Late, written and directed by Dan Chișu, starring Mihai Călin and Diana Cavallioti, will have the world premiere in the competition of the 35th edition of the Warsaw International Film Festival (October 11-20, 2019). 5 Minutes will compete for the Warsaw Grand Prix, worth of 100,000 zlotys (23,000 Euros), for the Best Director award, worth of 10,000 zlotys and the special award of the jury, worth of 5,000 zlotys. In 2009, the event is acknowledged by the International Federation of the Film Producers Association (FIAPF) as an international festival, alongside the ones from Cannes, Venice, Berlin, Locarno, San Sebastian, Karlovy Vary, Tokyo, Moscow, Mar del Plata, Montreal, Shanghai, Cairo, Goa and Tallinn.
Dan Chișu`s feature film is based on true facts. A controversial film is on in a cinema in Bucharest, about a two women couple. Shortly after the beginning of the screening, a few viewers stood up and started protesting against the LGBT community, while a few members of this community were present. The press accused the gendarmerie for not having intervened in order to stop the conflict which escaladed and a young man got hurt and ended up in hospital. The film focuses on the story of the man who led the gendarmes crew in that action, through an investigation made by a young journalist, known for her unusually daring reports.
“The film story was born out of the intention of approaching concept such as , and . The suspense that the viewer experiences coincides with the suspense of the characters who cannot predict the end of the journeys they take. After his daughter runs away from home because she can`t handle her father`s intolerance, he doesn`t know if the apparent decomposing of his family is permanent or if there still is something he can do to restore the initial balance. Likewise, the journalist starts an investigation which kind of looks successful, but she reaches a point where she doesn`t understand the meaning of her efforts”, Dan Chișu explains.
The film also features Emanuel Pârvu, Ana Radu, Elvira Deatcu, Adrian Titieni, Gabi Huian and Aida Economu.  Adrian Silișteanu is the director of photography, Letiția Ștefănescu is the editor, the sound design is signed by Alexandru Dumitru, the production design by Gina Călin, the costumes by Adina Bucur, the make-up by Dana Roșeanu and the hair styling by Manuela Simionescu. Anamaria Antoci is the film producer.
5 Minutes is a Domestic Film production, in co-production with DaKINO Production, made with the support of the Romanian Film Centre, the  Media Creative Europe Program of the EU, Heineken Romania, in collaboration with the Romanian television Society.
