The Cluj festival brings visibility to the Romanian filmmakers and being selected – in competition or outside the competition – is good for the portfolio. All the more for the young directors and actors. For four years already, the 10 for film platform is like a casting session with audience. Young actors with stage projects and less film experience are selected for this platform. They are made a professional portfolio (photographs, videos), they are introduced to the people of the film industry, they have intensive training sessions which finalize with the making of a music video. Last year people already talked about Lucian Rus, who was part of last year`s edition, who had the chance of being chosen for the lead part in Radu Jude`s Scarred Hearts.
This year, at the TIFF Lounge, Ileana Cecanu, the coordinator of the platform, introduced the 10 young talents: Alina Petrică (Godot Café-Theatre, ÎnCulise, Teatrelli - Bucharest), Andi Gherghe (Ariel Theatre fromTârgu Mureș), Cătălina Bălălău (Youth Theatre from Piatra-Neamț), Cezar Grumăzescu (Excelsior Theatre, Jewish State Theatre, Comedy Theatre – from Bucharest), Ciprian Scurtea („RaduStanca” National Theatre from Sibiu), Cristian Rigman (National Theatre fromClujNapoca), Ioana-Florentina Manciu („Marin Sorescu” National Theatre from Craiova), Nicholas Cațianis (Excelsior Theatre andI.L.Caragiale National Theatre from Bucharest), Richard Balint (State Theatre from Oradea), SânzianaTarță (National Theatre from Cluj-Napoca).
