Winners of NexT 2016: “Toaster”, the best Romanian short    


     On Monday night, at the Romanian Farmers' Cinema, the Gala for awarding the prizes of the tenth Edition of NexT International Film Festival, presented by Ada Solomon, director of NexT International Film Festival, and by Yvonne Irimescu, coordinator of NexT.
     The NexT 2016 Trophy went to the production The Living Need Light, The Dead Need Music, directed by The Propeller Group of Vietnam. The NexT Trophy consists of EUR 2,000 offered by the Romanian Cultural Institute (ICR), and EUR 2,000 in digital and laboratory services (post-production) offered by Cinelab Romania.
     The “Cristian Nemescu” Award for Best Director, in value of EUR 1,000, sponsored by ICR, went to She Stoops to Conquer, by Zack Russell.
     The “Andrei Toncu” Award for Best Sound Design, amounting to EUR 1,000, sponsored by ICR, went to, for Figure. 
     The Jury granted two Special Mentions to the animation MANOMAN, by Simon Cartwright, and to the Romanian short Dispozitiv 0068 (Sniper’s Nest), by Radu Bărbulescu.
     Prăjitorul de pâine (Toaster), directed by Cristian Pop, was considered Best Romanian Short. The respective prize amounts to EUR 1,000, being sponsored by the ICR.
     The Luna Award, in value of EUR 2,000, was granted to the
     Romanian short Vacanță la țară (Summer Break), directed by Andrei Tănase.
     Premiul Publicului pentru film românesc, acordat unei pelicule din Competiția națională și constând în suma de 500 de euro, oferită de Pizza Hut, a fost câștigat tot de Dispozitiv 0068.
     The Award of the Audience for Foreign Film went to the short Jeunesse de Loups-Garous (Monsters Turn Into Lovers). The award, sponsored by Pizza Hut, amounted to EUR 500.
     The Pitch Competition winner and of a check amounting to EUR 5,000 sponsored by ShortsTV was the project Private Party, by Octav Chelaru. The same project also won the Villa Kult Award, consisting in an artistic residence in Berlin during the Berlinale, the transportation being paid for.
     Furthermore, within the NexT Short Film Market, an award was granted to the project Exit by Bogdan Benea, amounting to EUR 1,000 in DI post-production services, sponsored by Abis Studio.
     The four main trophies of NexT were modelled by artist Titi Ciocan, and painted by Nicu Duță aka KITRA, Andy Sinboy, Loreta Isac, Paul Dersidan și Sorina Vazelina.
